Production Engineer (Mechatronics)

Location: Linkou, Taiwan; onsite at the Linkou Factory. Occasional weekend support may be required approximately once every two months, for one day on either Saturday or Sunday.

What you will do

• Diagnose precision mechatronics issues in PAS5500, YieldStar, Reticle Handler, and XT modules, including stages, handlers, linear motors, actuators, sensors, and air bearings.
• Analyze following error, overshoot, settling time, friction, backlash, thermal drift, vibration, resonance, and other factors affecting motion accuracy and stability.
• Perform Bode, FFT, PSD, and PVA analysis to identify system modes and control-mechanical interactions.
• Collaborate with software, control, electrical, and mechanical engineers on servo tuning, filters, motion profiles, controller parameters, and sensor-actuator integration.
• Lead third-line root-cause analysis, controlled experiments, ECN reviews, NPI support, and implementation of structural fixes.
• Improve factory stability, yield, robustness, and MTBF through DOE, performance trending, diagnostics, documentation, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, precision engineering, electrical, control, automation engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience with motion control systems, servo dynamics, stage or handler mechanics, precision automation equipment, or high-precision machinery.
• Hands-on experience with motion tuning, PID/feedforward/filtering, PVA analysis, motion diagnostics, encoder or sensor integration, calibration, and mapping.
• Strong understanding of servo control, mechanical dynamics, system behavior, and vibration or dynamic behavior troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret Bode, FFT, and PSD results, read mechanical drawings and basic control schematics, and validate root causes with data.
• Availability for occasional planned weekend support at the Linkou Factory, approximately once every two months.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor equipment, precision motion systems, metrology platforms, robotics, or automated machinery.
• Familiarity with PLC-based control, embedded motion controllers, real-time control systems, or EtherCAT.
• Knowledge of compensation algorithms, error-table analysis, precision alignment, RCA methods, ECN processes, and reliability improvement projects.
• Experience analyzing motion or diagnostic data with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
