TL;DR
Hackathons - Team Lead (FedD068) (Kubernetes/cloud-native defense software): Setting technical direction, reference architectures, integration patterns, and technical programming for large-scale hackathon events with an accent on secure delivery, platform abstraction, and controlled environments. Focus on integrating diverse partner technologies, designing air-gapped deployment approaches, engaging government and defense stakeholders, and turning event outcomes into durable production-ready solutions.

Location: Remote - USA; travel is expected multiple times per year, primarily within the continental United States and occasionally OCONUS.

Salary: $148,750–$201,250 USD per year; compensation ranges apply across all geographic locations within the United States.

What you will do

  • Set the technical direction for hackathons using UDS and hirify.global platform and tooling principles.
  • Evaluate and integrate cloud providers, partner technologies, third-party tools, and defense ecosystem solutions.
  • Define technical guardrails, reference architectures, and integration patterns for durable, deployable outcomes.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies with the Mission Manager.
  • Engage government stakeholders, industry partners, and participants by translating complex technical capabilities into clear mission-impact narratives.
  • Plan and deliver technical programming, workshops, enablement content, and post-event documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and building software systems in complex, multi-technology environments.
  • Hands-on experience with UDS or similar platform abstraction and deployment frameworks.
  • Technical experience engaging government or defense stakeholders and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in presales or customer-facing roles combining technical credibility with value communication.
  • Understanding of software delivery and platform engineering for air-gapped environments, including offline package management, artifact distribution, and secure update mechanisms.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the Department of War innovation ecosystem, including programs, procurement, and mission priorities.
  • Experience with hackathons, integration events, or innovation sprints in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Ability to create structure in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Experience delivering technical solutions that remain useful beyond the original event or sprint.
