Product Support Engineer (Robotics)

Location: In-office in Bolingbrook, Illinois or Oakland, California; occasional travel may be required.

What you will do

• Own technical escalations for one or two assigned automation system types.
• Support Field Service Engineers with complex troubleshooting, diagnosis, root-cause identification, and remediation planning.
• Review logs, system data, configurations, drawings, and failure history to determine next steps.
• Reproduce field failures in the office and test PLC, robot, software, electrical, and configuration changes.
• Identify repeat failures and fleet-wide trends, then escalate systemic issues to Product Engineering with supporting data and recommendations.
• Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, procedures, known issues, configurations, and other technical knowledge-base content.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems.
• Experience with PLCs, industrial robots, safety equipment, vision systems, networking, or related technologies.
• Ability to work directly with equipment to reproduce problems and test solutions using data and evidence.
• Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to collaborate across Field Engineering, Product Engineering, and Design.
• Ability to work from the Chicago-area or Oakland office during normal weekday hours.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience supporting automation across multiple customer sites.
• Experience building technical support documentation or knowledge bases.
• Experience working between field service and product engineering teams.
• Experience using failure and service data to reduce repeat issues and site visits.
