Senior FPGA Prototyping Engineer (ASIC)

Salary: $120,000–$225,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Develop FPGA-based prototypes for early ASIC integration, firmware development, and system validation.
• Build hardware platforms that enable software and firmware development before first silicon.
• Support first-silicon bring-up, debugging, functional validation, and hardware-software integration.
• Develop automated infrastructure for silicon characterization, regression testing, traffic generation, and protocol checking.
• Configure and validate Ethernet SerDes, SPI, UART, GPIO, and other digital interfaces.
• Collaborate with ASIC Design, Verification, Firmware, Software, Systems, and DFT teams to resolve issues across the silicon lifecycle.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of FPGA development experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog and AMD/Xilinx FPGA tools.
• Strong understanding of ASIC development and digital system architecture, including FPGA prototyping for ASIC development.
• Experience with firmware/software enablement, hardware bring-up, and debugging using JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Proficiency in Python and scripting for automation and test infrastructure.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with networking, communications, or satellite systems.
• Experience with ARM or RISC-V embedded processors and hard real-time systems, including bare-metal or RTOS environments.
• Experience validating high-speed Ethernet, SerDes, SPI, and UART interfaces.
• Additional silicon bring-up experience using JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
