Senior Software Engineer (Node.js)

Location: Hybrid role requiring two days in the San Francisco office every Tuesday and Wednesday. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Salary: $180,000–$192,075 base pay, plus bonus, benefits, and perks.

What you will do

• Build Post-Booking features that improve the customer experience through high-performance Node.js services and AI-driven enhancements.
• Define multi-quarter technical roadmaps for backend and frontend web domains with engineering managers and architects.
• Drive scalable system architecture, APIs, data models, technical debt reduction, and critical replatforming initiatives.
• Lead complex cross-team technical projects and translate ambiguous business goals into technical strategies, designs, and experiments.
• Act as a JavaScript subject-matter expert, mentor engineers, create technical documentation, and champion high-quality testing and AI practices.
• Lead adoption of Spec-Driven Development using advanced AI tools for scalable implementations and comprehensive test suites.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience across frontend and backend development, with demonstrated impact on complex domains and multiple teams.
• Extensive Node.js experience and strong knowledge of microservice architecture.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills for financial use cases, including Postgres and Snowflake.
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous, event-driven systems such as Kafka.
• Experience designing and owning observability and alerting for critical systems.
• Mastery of building, debugging, and scaling distributed systems, plus strong communication, influence, and ownership skills.

• Spec-Driven Development experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools.
• Experience rebuilding legacy software systems.
• Familiarity with large-scale microservice and event-driven architectures.
• Ruby on Rails familiarity.
