What you will do

• Set long-term technical strategy for cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design, build, and operate the most ambiguous and high-stakes pieces of the banking stack.
• Implement AI-first workflows and agentic tools to multiply engineering velocity and quality.
• Drive evaluation and integration of critical third-party platforms across core banking and card-processing stacks.
• Define the technical and regulatory integration boundary between Affirm Bank and Affirm Inc.
• Create systems and documentation specifically designed for inspection by FDIC and state examiners.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of owning high-stakes systems end-to-end.
• Must be based in the USA.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor).
• Deep expertise in AWS, Terraform, and cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
• Experience working in regulated environments such as banking, payments, or healthcare.
• Ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts to executives and boards.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in a neobank, Banking-as-a-Service provider, or chartered bank subsidiary.
• Experience with de novo bank launches or greenfield regulated platforms.
• Hands-on experience with bank core or card issuer processor integrations.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including FDIC, GLBA, BSA/AML, and Reg E/Z.
