Senior Software Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript)

Location: Boston, MA, United States; hybrid work with two core office days each week.

Salary: $117,300–$156,400 annual base pay, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead technical design for complex backend features, including design documents, architecture decisions, data models, and API contracts.
• Design and implement reliable, scalable, and performant services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Own services across the full lifecycle, including production operations, observability, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction.
• Develop testing strategies that keep services maintainable and performant as they scale.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions.
• Act as a technical lead, review designs and code, unblock teammates, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Experience independently owning complete product features or small products and projects.
• Experience resolving ambiguity with product teams and designing solutions across engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ownership of technical design for medium-to-large systems, including RFCs, design documents, and architecture proposals.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, data modeling, scalable high-availability services, and cloud-scale NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in a modern programming language such as TypeScript or C#, plus modern observability, logging, and production diagnostics.
• Fluency with modern AI tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, with senior-level judgment to direct, review, and own their output.

Nice to have

• Extensive experience with CI/CD and test automation.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with NestJS, Kafka, Redis, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
• Experience building shared AI tooling and workflows.
