Field Service Technician

TL;DR

Field Service Technician (UPS/Power Systems): Perform scheduled and remedial service on small to medium UPS, Power Distribution Units, and Battery systems (2-120KVA) with an accent on on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance for edge market customers like retail and financial. Focus on achieving first-time fixes, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining high customer satisfaction under direct supervision.

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA, United States. Travel required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled maintenance and break-fix services on UPS, PDU, and battery systems.
• Provide on-site and phone assistance to customers, communicating with technical support as needed.
• Implement field change notices and keep current on safety bulletins and service tips.
• Complete administrative tasks including time cards, expense reports, and service documentation.
• Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities and meeting response time requirements.
• Maintain customer satisfaction through proper communication and first-time fixes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Vocational School; ASEET/AMEET preferred.
• 0-2 years relevant industry experience or 2-4 years military technical experience.
• Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
• Valid driver’s license; able to pass drug test, background check, and motor vehicle records check.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs and work in various conditions including travel, flexible schedules.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic site evaluation skills.
