Field Service Technician (Power Systems)

Location: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada; domestic and international travel to customer sites is required, including travel within Canada and the United States.

What you will do

• Commission power products and control systems, integrating them with generators, UPS, SCADA, and other vendors’ equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, field installations, equipment modifications, and repairs at customer locations.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, identify causes of equipment misoperation, and provide product support.
• Program and service complex automation, PLC/HMI, and protective relaying systems.
• Conduct engineering site surveys to determine field-work scope and coordinate replacement parts with project engineers and project managers.
• Complete post-site office work and submit project documentation on time, including work outside regular hours when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in power generation.
• More than two years of field service experience with complex electrical systems and power-generation equipment.
• Hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and repairing power equipment.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and independent-working skills.
• Valid passport and work permit for Canada and the United States are required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Canada and the United States are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with paralleling generator-control start-ups using Basler, GE, or Schweitzer multifunction protection relays and Woodward or ComAp engine controllers.
• Experience making field changes to HMI screens and PLC ladder-logic programs.
