Director of Supply Chain (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. Muon is currently registered and able to hire in listed U.S. states.

Salary: $264,000–$294,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end Supply Chain organization across Purchasing, Planning, and Inventory Management.
• Define operating models, cross-functional interfaces, performance standards, and KPIs.
• Build scalable supply chain processes and evolve individual contributors into a layered, process-driven organization.
• Manage supply chain risks including obsolescence, sole-source dependencies, geopolitical impacts, and supplier continuity.
• Lead strategic sourcing, supplier development, supplier negotiations, and platform commonality initiatives.
• Coordinate Engineering Design Release, material procurement and delivery, production execution, and mission schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including 5+ years leading teams and managing managers.
• Experience in manufacturing, ideally aerospace, satellite, complex electromechanical, or other high-mix regulated hardware production.
• Expertise across procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier development, MRP-based planning, and inventory management.
• Experience establishing operating models, processes, and KPIs from an early or immature baseline.
• Ability to work on-site in San Jose, California, three days per week and meet U.S. export-control access requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling supply chains from prototype or low-rate production to higher-volume serial production.
• Familiarity with aerospace and defense requirements such as AS9100, ITAR/EAR, traceability, and counterfeit-part avoidance.
• Experience with vertical integration, make-versus-buy decisions, ERP/MRP systems, and supply chain analytics.
• APICS/ASCM, ISM, or equivalent certification.
