Commodity Manager (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Own commodity strategies, supplier landscapes, sourcing plans, and execution priorities across assigned programs and product lines.
• Lead supplier discovery, qualification, RFQs, bid analysis, negotiations, award recommendations, and sourcing implementation.
• Analyze market conditions, manufacturing processes, cost drivers, capacity, lead times, and supplier capabilities.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, design-to-cost, supplier productivity, and total-cost-of-ownership improvements.
• Partner with engineering and suppliers on design for manufacturability, standardization, alternate sources, and early supplier involvement.
• Monitor supplier performance and mitigate quality, delivery, capacity, financial, geopolitical, export-control, and sub-tier risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, materials science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, commodity management, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Expertise in one or more defense, aerospace, advanced-manufacturing, or similarly regulated purchasing commodities.
• Experience leading sourcing events, supplier negotiations, commercial analysis, and supplier-performance improvement as an individual contributor.
• Ability to access applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing; government clearance or other eligibility requirements may apply.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of avionics, machined or metallic parts, composites or special materials, hardware, chemicals, or comparable defense-related commodities.
• Experience with new product introduction, rapid development, production ramp, or configuration-controlled hardware.
• Experience with ERP/MRP and sourcing systems, bills of material, purchase orders, supplier master data, and lead-time planning.
• Advanced Excel, SQL, should-cost modeling, or analytics experience.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, counterfeit-part prevention, cybersecurity requirements, or government-contracting controls; relevant APICS, ISM, or Six Sigma certification.
