Staff Engineering Program Manager, Core Tech

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, with required in-office collaboration; global travel to offices and suppliers as needed. Travel up to 25–30% of the time. Candidates residing in Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not considered.

Salary: $198,050–$233,000 annually for Region 1 US locations, with final compensation based on location, skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Lead multiple core technology initiatives through technical feasibility, risk reduction, and readiness for transfer into new product introduction programs.
• Partner with engineering, design, science, sensing, silicon, materials, manufacturing, supply, and other cross-functional groups.
• Define scopes, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, decision points, and readiness criteria.
• Lead prototype builds, feasibility experiments, design-of-experiments, and learning cycles.
• Identify and mitigate technical, supply, schedule, and integration risks.
• Report program status, risks, decisions, open questions, and resource needs while supporting external partners and vendors.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional engineering or technology development efforts.
• Experience with emerging technologies, difficult integrations, early-stage development, or work preceding formal productization.
• Experience managing multiple initiatives across different timelines, maturity levels, and stakeholder groups.
• Experience with phase-gated or maturity-based development models, including entry and exit criteria.
• Experience planning and executing prototypes, design-of-experiments, and technical learning cycles.
• Strong program management judgment and proficiency with Linear, Confluence, and Smartsheet.
