TL;DR
Senior Technical Data Governance Specialist (Snowflake): Building practical data governance frameworks, quality controls, metadata repositories, lineage documentation, and compliance reporting for modern cloud data platforms with an accent on data quality, security, and cross-functional adoption. Focus on configuring governance tools, profiling and validating data with SQL, defining stewardship models, and turning governance metrics into actionable insights.

Location: Remote, Canada. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Remote work from abroad is available for up to 3 months per year where legally permitted.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Drive the adoption of data governance policies, standards, and processes.
  • Define data quality rules, monitor metrics, and support issue resolution.
  • Create and maintain metadata repositories, data lineage documentation, and stewardship models.
  • Support data access controls, privacy policies, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize data governance and cataloging tools.
  • Collaborate with data owners, stewards, engineers, and business users while producing governance reports, documentation, and training materials.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and their practical application in cross-functional environments.
  • Hands-on experience with data cataloging, metadata management, data quality tools, and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills for data exploration, profiling, validation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to build practical, scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, collaboration, and consultative skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada and successful completion of criminal and credit background checks are required.

Nice to have

  • Data governance or data management certifications, such as CIMP, CDS, or CDMP.
  • Administrator-level training or certification for tools such as data.world, Secoda, Atlan, or Ataccama.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • French fluency.
