Manager of Data Governance

Location: Toronto, Canada; flexible hybrid work approach

Salary: CAD 131,800–172,480 gross annual

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Data Governance function, setting standards for ownership, stewardship, access, classification, and quality.
• Own DataHub as the enterprise catalog, including metadata, onboarding, tagging, lineage, and domain stewardship.
• Evaluate and extend the governance toolchain with data quality, observability, privacy, entitlement, and policy-management platforms.
• Define quality dimensions, tiers, SLAs, profiling policies, health scores, audits, and remediation processes.
• Govern data access and compliance alignment across privacy regulations, internal audit requirements, and industry standards.
• Facilitate the data domain council and build organizational accountability through training and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years in data governance, data management, or a related field, including 2+ years in people or program leadership.
• Hands-on experience with data catalogs or metadata platforms; DataHub experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of data quality, observability, privacy, entitlement, classification, and access governance tools and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and with dbt lineage, documentation, and testing practices.
• Strong understanding of GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, internal audit standards, cross-functional facilitation, policy writing, and executive communication.

Nice to have

• DAMA Certified Data Management Professional certification.
• Experience with DataHub Cloud, Acryl Data, Apache Atlas, or AWS Glue Data Catalog.
• Experience in SaaS or B2B technology companies.
• Exposure to MLOps governance or AI model risk frameworks.
