OSP Technician

Salary: $34.91–$40.00 per hour

What you will do

• Install, terminate, test, activate, and maintain LAN cabling, telecommunications end devices, and VoIP equipment.
• Locate cables for dig permits and perform interior and exterior cable repairs.
• Splice and test copper and fiber cables, as well as install other low-voltage cables and low-speed circuits.
• Complete work orders, dig permit requests, and emergency outage reports according to base, industry, safety, and legal standards.
• Coordinate with customers, permitting offices, work centers, and other contractors.
• Document, label, and record completed work in electronic systems.

Requirements

• Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, locating, and testing interior or exterior copper and fiber cables.
• Knowledge of telecommunications systems, practices, installation standards, testing equipment, and applicable safety procedures.
• Customer service skills and the ability to communicate tactfully with customers and coworkers.
• Critical thinking, reliability, adaptability, multitasking, and the ability to direct other team members.
• Ability to climb ladders, stand, bend, lift, and work in confined spaces throughout the duty day.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license, reliable transportation, and a SECRET security clearance required.

Nice to have

• New Mexico Telephone Journeyman License ES-7J.
• BICSI Installer 1 or 2 certification.
