General Counsel

Location: Australia; flexible work arrangement with options for working from home and flexi-hours, alongside an office environment in Parramatta CBD.

hirify.global is an independent Australian animation studio producing original long-form animated shows for YouTube and other global distribution, licensing, and merchandising partners.

What you will do

• Lead legal strategy for content, distribution, co-production, licensing, talent, vendor, freelancer, and platform agreements.
• Build contract templates, negotiation playbooks, approval workflows, and processes for managing legal risk and outside counsel.
• Advise People and HR on global employment law, worker classification, cross-border hiring, EOR arrangements, immigration considerations, and guild requirements.
• Establish and maintain international entities, governance processes, intercompany agreements, corporate records, and local compliance.
• Manage global copyright and trademark protection, licensing, takedowns, infringement matters, and chain-of-title questions.
• Own enterprise risk, privacy and security compliance, disputes, regulatory inquiries, insurance coverage, and executive legal advice.

Requirements

• Law degree and current admission to practice in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
• 8–15+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house work in media, entertainment, animation, production, technology, or digital platforms.
• Hands-on experience negotiating content, distribution, licensing, or platform agreements with major streamers, studios, or platforms.
• Strong employment-law experience across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia, including worker classification, EOR, contractor, and cross-border hiring structures.
• Experience managing corporate entities across multiple jurisdictions and working with finance and tax stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of IP, copyright, media law, privacy, and commercial risk, with excellent judgment and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with YouTube partner, Content ID, and monetization policies.
• Experience scaling a company from approximately 200 to 500 people.
• Knowledge of GDPR, US state privacy laws, PIPEDA, and the Australian Privacy Act.
• Language skills or lived experience relevant to Glitch’s key markets.
• Strong stakeholder management, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
