Senior Product Counsel (AI)

Location: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., or United States - Remote. Must be authorized to practice law in the U.S. state where located.

Salary: $214,200–$315,000 USD base salary annually, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Provide solution-oriented legal advice from initial product development through launch.
• Advise on worker classification, AI and data governance, privacy, intellectual property, data licensing, consumer protection, and regulatory matters.
• Partner with product managers, operators, engineers, and data scientists on product and operational initiatives.
• Manage legal risks and build consensus across legal and non-legal functions.
• Build playbooks and scalable processes for the Product Legal team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of legal experience, including prior in-house legal department experience.
• Deep privacy expertise, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, biometric data, and sensitive data.
• Strong legal judgment and the ability to manage ambiguity, high request volume, and competing priorities.
• Ability to apply complex areas of law to a fast-paced business environment.
• U.S. authorization to practice law in the state where located.
• Collaborative, self-directed, business-first approach.

Nice to have

• Product counseling experience.
• Technology industry or on-demand economy experience.
• Familiarity with AI/ML development, data sourcing, labeling, training data, and model development.
• Experience with data licensing, intellectual property, commercial agreements, or worker classification frameworks.
• Experience advising on novel products and business lines without clear precedent.
