California Business Development Lead, Public Safety (AI)

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually, plus benefits, possible equity, and possible bonus.

What you will do

• Drive statewide expansion across California agencies, counties, and cities by identifying high-impact public safety and government opportunities.
• Build trusted relationships with senior state and local officials, advisors, lobbyists, and other external stakeholders.
• Map public safety, emergency management, data modernization, and AI governance priorities to actionable go-to-market pathways.
• Convert policy developments, funding opportunities, grants, and procurement routes into commercial initiatives and deployments.
• Coordinate with Growth, Customer, Marketing, Communications, and Product teams to accelerate adoption and shorten contracting timelines.
• Lead executive briefings, roundtables, workshops, proposals, and other engagements while managing external partners and consultants.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in California government partnerships, public-sector business development, or state-level strategy.
• Deep understanding of public safety challenges and California state and local government operations.
• Proven ability to turn government priorities, funding flows, and legislative or policy windows into commercial opportunities.
• Strong relationships or working familiarity with California state agencies and their decision-making processes.
• Executive-level verbal and written communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear stories for lawmakers and agency executives.
