Compute Country Lead (AI)

Location: Canada; remote-friendly with travel required. Staff are currently expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, and some roles may require more office time.

What you will do

• Own the strategy and coordination of the compute build-out in Canada from site selection through construction and operations.
• Coordinate leasing, financing, energy, government relations, community engagement, construction, and operations workstreams.
• Lead the in-country cross-functional team, drive alignment, and unblock issues without direct line authority.
• Represent Anthropic with Canadian government officials, utilities, energy providers, and industry stakeholders.
• Build relationships across government and the energy industry to support site, power, and policy outcomes.
• Track risks and progress as the compute footprint scales from initial sites to multiple gigawatts.

Requirements

• Canadian nationality and established government or energy-industry connections are strongly preferred.
• Background in energy, infrastructure, or a related sector.
• Ability to learn new domains quickly, structure ambiguous problems, and manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Strong communication skills and experience representing an organization to senior government, utility, and industry stakeholders.
• Experience leading and coordinating cross-functional teams without direct line authority.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale infrastructure or datacenter development.
• Relationships with Canadian federal or provincial bodies involved in energy, land use, or industrial development.
• Experience managing or overseeing capital-intensive projects.
• Familiarity with compute, cloud, or datacenter industries.
