Non-Agency Scenario Desk Specialist (Mortgage Underwriting)

Location: Remote within the United States

A large distributed retail mortgage lender serving borrowers across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

What you will do

• Provide daily support through ticketing, phone, and email for underwriting and loan-scenario questions.
• Review general and complex underwriting scenarios, loan eligibility questions, and investor-specific guidelines.
• Analyze personal and business tax returns and other income documentation for qualifying calculations.
• Suggest alternative loan structures and investor options when appropriate.
• Create technical documentation, how-to guides, FAQs, and self-help references.
• Participate in underwriting, regional, and sales calls; support training and collaborate across departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years of mortgage underwriting experience, preferably across multiple agency and investor guidelines.
• Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to analyze complex income documentation and apply underwriting and lending guidelines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.
• Ability to maintain applicable underwriting designations and meet ticketing-system turn-time expectations.
