Field Technician (Structured Cabling)

Location: Ronkonkoma, New York, United States; primarily within a 50-mile service area with light travel.

What you will do

• Complete telecommunications, structured cabling, hardware moves, adds, changes, repairs, and new installations.
• Perform smart hands installations and maintenance across changing technology platforms and scopes of work.
• Communicate with network infrastructure team members and departments coordinating service calls.
• Lead subcontracted crews on larger local projects.
• Submit required job and project deliverables within 24 hours or as specified in the applicable scope of work.
• Maintain the company vehicle and keep tools and materials stocked through scheduled inventory counts.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of structured cabling experience.
• Ability to tone and test copper wiring and analog dial tone.
• Ability to terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and coaxial cabling.
• Ability to patch and roll fiber.
• Laptop skills, including Excel and PuTTY/HyperTerminal for enabling remote sessions with engineers or the NOC.
• Basic networking skills, including modem GUIs, command prompts, and initiating remote sessions.
• Light travel and a clean driving record.
