Associate, Project Development (Renewable Energy)

Location: Hybrid role based near a Clearway office in the United States, with the primary location in San Francisco and more than 25% travel to West Region projects.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD annual base pay, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Manage and support utility-scale renewable energy projects from proposal and siting through permitting, interconnection, contracting, financing, construction handover, and commissioning.
• Develop approaches that reduce permitting risks, improve schedules, and increase project value.
• Lead due diligence for development-stage projects and portfolio acquisitions, evaluating siting, permitting, interconnection, power marketing, and financial metrics.
• Coordinate land campaigns, stakeholder networks, site layouts, engineering studies, interconnection requests, transmission analysis, and project constraints.
• Support negotiations and diligence for PPAs, GIAs, turbine supply agreements, EPC contracts, and other project agreements.
• Manage project budgets and schedules, financing diligence, stage-gate reviews, investment materials, and RFP responses for power purchase and offtake opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of U.S. renewable energy industry experience with direct involvement in the full lifecycle development of utility-scale solar and/or wind projects.
• Experience navigating complex energy-project permitting pathways in the western United States.
• Knowledge of landowner engagement, real estate contracting, title resolution, subdivision, agricultural land and water restrictions, ALTA surveys, GIS, and related land-development activities.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, development partners, consultants, and multiple projects simultaneously.
• Non-immigrant visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

• Advanced study in business, finance, law, environmental science, or public policy.
• Experience with governmental mandates, environmental regulations, and renewable energy market signals in the West Region.
• Battery storage experience.
• Knowledge of CAISO and/or WECC power and transmission markets.
