SLAM Engineer (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, CA; Sunnyvale, CA; or remote within the United States

Salary: $168,000–$247,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Architect and deploy production-grade SLAM systems for large-scale high-definition maps.
• Design and implement 3D registration pipelines for noisy, real-world environments.
• Develop robust state-estimation systems for relative and absolute localization.
• Improve HD map quality, coverage, and localization reliability in dynamic urban environments.
• Own system architecture, drive implementation, and contribute to technical direction.
• Collaborate with perception, hardware, and autonomy teams on integrated robotic solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of industry experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, embedded systems, or a comparable field.
• Professional experience with C/C++ and Python.
• Deep knowledge of 3D geometry and spatial reasoning.
• Experience with LiDAR- or vision-based 3D registration, including ICP variants, feature-based and global registration, and loop closure.
• Expertise in nonlinear optimization and state estimation, including EKF/UKF, factor graphs, smoothing, and filtering.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern deep learning algorithms and frameworks.
• Experience with multimodal localization using LiDAR, cameras, and radar.
