User Researcher (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, with office attendance required on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Salary: $196,000–$230,000 per year for roles based in New York City, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and execute studies on how users discover, trust, and gain value from AI features such as Notion Agent and Chat.
• Identify barriers to AI adoption, monetization, willingness to pay, and growth across onboarding and workspace creation.
• Conduct mixed-methods research, including interviews, concept testing, usability testing, diary studies, surveys, and quantitative pricing studies.
• Use AI research tooling to scale research execution, reporting, and insight sharing.
• Deliver actionable insights that inform product strategy, business opportunities, and growth decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry UX research experience.
• Experience researching AI-enabled products, especially agentic or workflow automation products, growth journeys, and B2B products.
• Strong AI fluency, systems thinking, business mindedness, data fluency, pragmatism, and communication skills.
• Experience with AI research tools such as Outset, Listen Labs, or Dovetail.
• Master’s or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, or a similar field.
• Experience communicating research findings to executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the work of Douglas Engelbart, Alan Kay, Bret Victor, and related computing pioneers.
