Software Engineer, Robotics Infrastructure (Autonomy & Robotics)

Salary: $168,000–$247,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Develop and own onboard infrastructure for aerial autonomy, including process management, health monitoring, configuration management, and message passing.
• Own C++ and Python build systems, the ROS2 middleware layer, and cross-compilation for NVIDIA Jetson targets.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, regression testing infrastructure, and parameterization systems covering schemas, validation, migration, and deployment.
• Build logging, plotting, visualization, and debugging tools for robotics development.
• Support SIL/HIL development workflows in collaboration with the simulation team.
• Define reliability standards for onboard software, including watchdogs, failover, and graceful degradation.

Requirements

• Prior experience at a robotics company in a comparable infrastructure role.
• Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS2, LCM, eCal, or Apex.AI.
• Experience with build systems and package managers, including CMake, Bazel, Nix, or Conan.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson and JetPack, robotics logging and visualization tools, and systems-level debugging.
• Strong C++ and Python skills, with interest in compiler and build-system internals such as LLVM and linker behavior.
• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Fault-tolerant systems experience in safety-critical domains such as aerospace, automotive, or medical technology.
• Open-source robotics tooling contributions or experience with deterministic replay and time-travel debugging.
• Familiarity with DO-178C or similar certification-aware development processes.
• Experience with Nix for reproducible robotics builds and DDS or middleware debugging on embedded hardware.
