Salary: $62,500–$237,500 base salary per year

What you will do

  • Partner with multidisciplinary design teams to embed design-for-excellence activities throughout hardware development.
  • Define and support the transition from advanced prototypes to low-rate production, ensuring technical feasibility, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Translate product specifications and requirements into production capability and process requirements.
  • Use CAD tools to develop product concepts and evaluate usability, safety, and production considerations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, internal services, program leadership, and engineering teams on capabilities and deliverables.
  • Identify system-level technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 1–7 years of experience in product engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with design-for-excellence principles, product specifications, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, develop requirements, interpret quantitative data, and recommend design or process modifications.
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required; an active Secret or Top Secret clearance is strongly desired.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense Manufacturing Readiness Level process.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience managing external manufacturing vendors.
