TL;DR
Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor): Developing precision mechanical and opto-mechanical inspection systems for semiconductor capital equipment with an accent on end-to-end design, structural analysis, vibration isolation, and manufacturing release. Focus on translating ambiguous requirements into engineering specifications, solving complex thermal, fluid-flow, and vibration challenges, and leading designs through prototyping, validation, and manufacturing handoff.

Location: Milpitas, California, USA; onsite role

Base pay: $117,800–$172,800 annually

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development from requirements definition and feasibility studies through manufacturing release.
  • Translate ambiguous requirements into clear engineering specifications and make design decisions balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Perform and guide structural, modal, vibration, thermal, and fluid-flow analyses.
  • Design and optimize precision mechanical and opto-mechanical systems with emphasis on vibration isolation and damping.
  • Own subsystem or product-level deliverables, design reviews, validation, and system integration.
  • Lead manufacturing handoff through documentation, vendor engagement, build support, and issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years, or a bachelor’s degree with 5+ years.
  • Strong expertise in at least two areas: structural/FEA analysis, modal and vibration analysis, thermal engineering, or fluid flow/CFD.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems and working with CAD assemblies and detailed drawings.
  • Experience creating procedures for manufacturing, field installation, and service.
  • Strong ownership, decision-making, communication, collaboration, and follow-through skills.
  • Experience with semiconductor capital equipment, vibration isolation, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, precision engineering, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
