Development Operations Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote - NOAM; collaboration across US and UK time zones

Salary: $105,000–$115,000 annual base salary, plus annual target bonus and benefits

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain deployment and release pipelines that reduce manual intervention.
• Develop internal release tooling for packaging, approvals, code and script deployments, and release completion workflows.
• Advance GitOps and CI/CD capabilities with reusable GitLab CI templates, Helm charts, and ArgoCD applications.
• Containerize and modernize QA and lower environments using Kubernetes, Helm, and Ansible.
• Troubleshoot deployment and infrastructure issues while partnering with engineering teams on environment-specific problems.
• Write tested Python and Bash automation, document runbooks, mentor teammates, and lead complex cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD and/or Jenkins.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash or shell.
• Experience with GitOps, infrastructure as code, or configuration management, including tools such as ArgoCD or Ansible.
• Ability to build full-stack internal automation tools with Python backends and JavaScript web frontends.
• Ability to collaborate across US and UK time zones and communicate clearly about reliability, security, and developer experience.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant equivalent experience.
• Experience with AWS, including RDS, and deployment or artifact tools such as Octopus Deploy, Nexus, or Artifactory.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Backstage, Rancher, or ELK.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, DBA collaboration, secure SDLC, SOC compliance, and change management.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and migrating them to containerized workflows.
