Technical Mitigation Handler

Location: Sevenoaks or Liverpool, UK; hybrid or remote working available

Salary: £35,271–£41,556 per year, plus a potential £2,000 annual bonus paid quarterly

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of high-risk and complex mitigation claims, including credit hire, personal injury, and property damage.
• Validate claims for indemnity and fraud, assess liability, communicate decisions, and set accurate reserves.
• Assess claim quantum using relevant tools and identify opportunities to settle third-party claims directly to reduce hire duration.
• Work with panel solicitors on litigated cases handled on a non-delegated basis.
• Act as a referral point while coaching and mentoring less experienced handlers.
• Improve mitigation strategies and collaborate with the wider team to implement and measure changes.

Requirements

• Level 3 Mitigation Handler experience or equivalent experience in another claims department.
• Significant experience in credit hire and/or personal injury claims.
• Extensive knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules, costs, and relevant case law.
• Strong, persuasive communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commercial awareness of the credit hire and/or personal injury market, with the ability to use initiative to achieve strong outcomes.
