Senior Software Developer (Python) (AI)

Location: Hybrid in London, with two days per week in the office at Brick Lane. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software platforms, RESTful APIs, analytical applications, and microservices.
• Build cloud-native services supporting analytics, optimisation, forecasting, and AI workloads.
• Develop Python backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Design and deploy containerised applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and support observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident resolution, security, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, network experts, and product stakeholders while contributing to architecture discussions and mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience developing software applications with Python and modern Python frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, testing, design patterns, maintainability, and code quality.
• Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, and hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of data engineering and analytical workflows, including ingestion, transformation, storage, and reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI workloads and using MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or Vertex AI.
• Knowledge of Apache Airflow and data processing technologies such as Pandas, Apache Beam, or Spark.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse.
• Experience with observability tools, large-scale distributed systems, graph analytics, network modelling, optimisation algorithms, or telecommunications networks.
