Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Salary: €80,000–€85,000 base salary per year, plus a 20% performance-related bonus.

What you will do

• Manage an engineering team of approximately 12 people, growing toward 16 engineers.
• Coach and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, career planning, and mentoring.
• Hire engineers as the team expands and support internal career mobility.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers on technical direction and engineering strategy.
• Represent the team in architecture, product strategy, and broader engineering discussions.
• Encourage autonomous team operation without micromanaging daily delivery activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of direct experience managing software engineers.
• Previous backend or full-stack engineering experience and a strong software engineering foundation.
• Strong hiring, coaching, people development, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with cloud-native systems and microservice architectures.
• Technical credibility sufficient to review pull requests, participate in architecture discussions, and support engineers with technical problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot or a transferable background in another strong backend ecosystem such as .NET.
• Financial services experience.
• Experience in SaaS, ecommerce, technology, pharma, or other complex engineering environments.
