TL;DR
Trade Show Manager, Defense & Government (Event Planning): Building and scaling the events function for a defense technology company through conferences, trade shows, customer demonstrations, VIP visits, and internal events with an accent on strategic planning, secure logistics, and memorable attendee experiences. Focus on managing complex event operations, coordinating technical and classified briefings, and delivering high-quality experiences across cross-functional teams.

Location: Onsite in Washington, DC, United States. Must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, and available for approximately 10% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year in base compensation, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Own the annual events strategy and long-range planning for conferences and major trade shows.
  • Plan and execute customer visits, facility tours, field demonstrations, technical briefings, and hospitality.
  • Manage conference and trade show logistics, including booth design, setup, production, and onsite coordination.
  • Build vendor, agency, and partner relationships while maintaining accurate quotes, budgets, and operational procedures.
  • Capture event leads and create supporting marketing materials such as invitations, event collateral, and landing pages.
  • Coordinate with Growth Strategy, Engineering, Mission Operations, Business Development, Security, Facilities, IT, and leadership.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of event planning experience, including trade shows or conferences.
  • Strong project management, ownership, logistics, creative problem-solving, and event-space planning skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and communication tools such as Slack.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Must work onsite in Washington, DC and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience with defense-industry trade shows.
  • Experience supporting European events as well as U.S.-based events.
