Software Development Engineer II, UFA (Fintech)

Location: Krakow, Poland; hybrid, with an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time monthly

Salary: PLN 245,000–275,000 gross annual base salary, plus equity and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Build and help design core services and APIs for User Financial Accounts, including ledger primitives and customer-balance operations.
• Solve distributed-systems challenges involving consistency, atomicity, idempotency, and partial failure handling.
• Turn safeguarding and regulatory requirements into platform capabilities for the UK, EU, and UAE markets.
• Deliver features from technical design through production readiness and collaborate with partner teams, Product, Operations, and external financial partners.
• Participate in design and code reviews while improving maintainability, reliability, observability, and operational quality.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Java, Kotlin, or Go, with experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Experience operating high-availability production systems in AWS or a similar cloud environment, including on-call participation.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and data-modeling trade-offs at scale.
• B2+ English and the ability to collaborate across time zones with partner teams in Seattle.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; comfort using AI tools throughout the development lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Payments, fintech, banking-platform, ledger, wallet, or money-movement experience.
• Experience with regulated or compliance-sensitive systems, including safeguarding, PCI scope, or financial reporting.
• Experience with multi-tenant platforms, shared infrastructure, external banking partners, card networks, or payment processors.
• Knowledge of observability and operational excellence for financially critical systems.
