Systems Integration Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Oakland, California, United States; fully onsite

Salary: $170,000–$250,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Define subsystem interface contracts, integration risks, dependencies, and system-level validation checks.
• Design and build hardware-in-the-loop systems and physical test benches, including wiring harnesses.
• Implement automated test sequences for batteries, drivetrain, thermal management, sensors, controls, and embedded systems.
• Lead system-level debugging and root-cause analysis across subsystem boundaries.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, controls, and software engineers to identify integration gaps.
• Document integration procedures, test results, known issues, and platform readiness for validation and manufacturing.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware/software integration, system integration, vehicle bring-up, or hardware validation for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or complex mechatronic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting physical systems, signal integrity issues, electrical faults, and communication faults.
• Basic scripting skills with Python or Linux shell scripts for testing, data logging, and diagnostics.
• Understanding of digital electronics, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and embedded peripherals.
• Experience reading board schematics and wiring diagrams, performing physical bring-up, and using Git and Jenkins.

• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams spanning software, controls, and hardware.
• Ability to communicate technical details effectively across engineering domains.
