Technical Lead Windows & SQL Server

Location: The Hague, Netherlands; hybrid working.

Salary: €6,378–€8,504 per month based on 36 hours, depending on knowledge and experience.

What you will do

• Define the technical direction and roadmap for Windows Server and SQL Server services within Managed IaaS.
• Translate architectural decisions into executable solutions and support Domain Architects with technical insights.
• Own technical decision-making, contribute to Architecture Decision Records, Solution Intents, and technical documentation.
• Safeguard technical quality through reviews, standards, best practices, and lifecycle management.
• Support engineers with complex technical challenges while promoting coaching, collective ownership, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive automation, standardization, security, performance optimization, operational stability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, SQL Server Administrator, Windows Engineer, or in a comparable role.
• Deep knowledge of Windows Server environments and solid knowledge of SQL Server, including administration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, and High Availability.
• Several years of experience managing Windows Server and/or SQL Server environments in an enterprise setting.
• Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and experience working in complex, controlled IT landscapes.
• Experience with automation, scripting, standardization, and strong knowledge of PowerShell.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, security baselines, monitoring, incident management, and problem management.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, decisive technical judgment, and the ability to explain technical decisions to engineers, architects, and stakeholders.
• Experience with coaching, mentoring, or technical leadership within an engineering team; strong focus on security, compliance, stability, and operational excellence.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s level working and thinking ability, preferably in IT, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field.
• Effective communication in English.

Nice to have

• Dutch language skills for collaboration within the Dutch business context.
• Experience with Ansible, Python, YAML, or other automation tooling.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, or Infrastructure-as-Code.
