Principal Network Engineer (Juniper)

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands; work from an HPE office an average of 2 days per week, with up to 10% travel to customer sites.

What you will do

• Serve as a subject matter expert for HPE data center networking products, supporting network design, troubleshooting, hardware and software testing, documentation, best practices, and automation.
• Provide primary technical support for break/fix incidents, using advanced diagnostics to restore services and prevent recurrence.
• Advise customers on Junos configurations and network design while acting as a primary technical contact for Advanced Services customers.
• Manage relationships with internal teams and outsourced development partners involved in engineering design and development.
• Review designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development standards, providing feedback to improve product quality.
• Contribute engineering leadership and domain expertise to cross-organizational projects, integrate new technologies, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 6+ years of experience in data center routing, switching, and network architecture.
• Hands-on experience with HPE Juniper products, including the QFX, PTX, MX, and EX series.
• Ability to develop test automation and write Python scripts.
• Experience testing and certifying Junos and Junos EVO software features and associated hardware.
• Experience with empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies for validating product designs and specifications.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools and software used to design components and solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language, including the ability to present product architectures and design proposals and negotiate options with senior management.
