Service Technician (Wind Turbines)

TL;DR

Service Technician (Wind Turbines) (Wind Energy): Maintaining and repairing wind turbine generators and related equipment at a wind farm with an accent on safety, electrical and mechanical systems, and reliable renewable power generation. Focus on diagnosing equipment failures, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, completing LOTO and safety documentation, and supporting 24/7 operations in demanding field conditions.

Location: Kevin, Montana, United States. Onsite fieldwork at the wind farm with rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends, on-call duties, and the ability to reach the site within 45 minutes during emergencies. Approximately 10% travel may be required for training and support at other wind farm sites.

What you will do

• Repair, maintain, and upgrade wind turbine generators and related wind farm equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across wind turbines, switch rooms, and operations buildings.
• Analyze electrical and mechanical hazards, complete LOTO and JSEA documentation, and follow all safety procedures.
• Assist with root cause analyses and resolve technical issues with Site Leads and Site Managers.
• Maintain accurate records of hours, materials, interventions, and maintenance activities in Movilizer.
• Support 24/7/365 operations, including rotating shifts, emergency callouts, overtime, and outage response.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; certification or a degree in wind technology, a technical discipline, or engineering is preferred.
• Ability to obtain certification for work with medium- and high-voltage equipment.
• Experience using hand and power tools and reading electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and heights above 300 feet, and meet the climbing-equipment weight limit of 265 pounds or less.
• Fluent English is required for safety communication, instructions, and collaboration.
• Valid full driver’s license, insurability under the company auto policy, ability to obtain a U.S. Passport, and readiness to pass a pre-employment physical.
