Staff Platform Engineer

TL;DR

What you will do

• Define the internal developer platform vision, roadmap, capabilities, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead the design and evolution of platform capabilities, golden paths, service templates, workflows, and developer tooling.
• Improve developer experience through better onboarding, documentation, APIs, CLIs, internal tools, and support models.
• Define platform APIs, ownership boundaries, service expectations, escalation paths, and operating models.
• Strengthen observability, telemetry, dashboards, operational readiness, reliability, and delivery standards.
• Mentor platform engineers and collaborate with engineering, product, security, and operations teams to improve delivery confidence.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years building internal developer platforms, cloud-native platforms, platform capabilities, or developer tooling at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Production experience with internal developer platforms, platform-as-product practices, golden paths, service templates, and developer workflows.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, container platforms, infrastructure automation, and DevOps.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or Dynatrace.
• Fluent English required; Portuguese or another additional language is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience replacing or sunsetting an underperforming internal platform or major platform capability.
• Experience with Backstage, Crossplane, Kubernetes operators, Terraform modules, or similar tooling.
• Experience measuring developer experience with DORA, SPACE, developer NPS, or platform adoption metrics.
• Programming or scripting experience in Python, Go, Shell, Java, or .NET.
• Experience coordinating platform initiatives, facilitating engineering workshops, or conducting business analysis.
