What you will do
- Process purchase orders for assigned commodities using internal requirements and MRP planning data.
- Solicit and evaluate bids, select suppliers, and negotiate cost-effective purchase agreements.
- Collaborate with engineering, materials planning, quality, and commodity management teams to improve sourcing, lead times, delivery, and product costs.
- Assess current and potential suppliers’ capabilities, quality systems, engineering resources, production capacity, and financial stability.
- Monitor material supply and pricing trends while developing new sources and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Create shortage recovery plans and coordinate corrective actions to meet customer delivery expectations.
Requirements
- Five or more years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- BS or BA degree in a business or technical field.
- Hands-on experience with an ERP system.
- Previous sourcing or procurement experience with printed circuit boards and electronic components is highly preferred.
- Experience driving cost reduction, improving material availability, reducing inventory, and increasing inventory turns.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, communication, multitasking, and supplier-management skills; experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma environments.
Nice to have
- APICS certification.
- International purchasing experience.
- Experience with SIOP processes.
