Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Working hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm CT.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year plus a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Own the general ledger and maintain accurate, up-to-date books in QuickBooks.
• Manage the full accounts payable and accounts receivable cycles, including invoicing, collections, approvals, payments, and cash application.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Lead monthly and year-end close activities, including journal entry preparation and review.
• Manage inventory accounting, payroll journal entries, supporting documentation, and sales tax compliance.
• Identify bookkeeping errors and process gaps while supporting the Head of Finance with reporting and transaction research.

Requirements

• 6+ years of corporate accounting experience, with end-to-end ownership of full-cycle books across multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of double-entry accounting and GAAP principles.
• Experience with general ledger functions, month-end and year-end close, and full balance sheet reconciliation.
• Hands-on experience with inventory accounting and related reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
• CPA certification is preferred; Big 4, Big 10, or top-tier public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
