Controller (Fintech)

TL;DR

Controller (Fintech): Building and owning hirify.global's accounting function for a marketplace and lending platform with an accent on US GAAP accrual accounting, revenue recognition, audit readiness, and financial systems integration. Focus on designing controls from scratch, connecting warehouse data to the general ledger, and scaling accounting operations as transaction volume grows.

Location: Fully remote within the United States.

Salary: $165,000–$190,000 per year, plus equity.

hirify.global is an early-stage fintech marketplace turning trading cards and other hirify.globalernative assets into investable, liquid markets.

What you will do

• Build and own the accounting function, including policies, controls, checklists, and monthly close operations.
• Lead the conversion from mixed cash/accrual accounting to full US GAAP accrual across auctions, exchange transactions, lending, cash advances, and partner revenue.
• Own the chart of accounts and revenue recognition policy, connecting Snowflake or other warehouse data to QuickBooks or a future ERP.
• Manage the external audit process, including PBC requests, walkthroughs, sample testing, and resolution of open items.
• Own tax compliance, borrowing-base and covenant reporting, and lender compliance for the asset-backed credit facility.
• Oversee AP/AR, reconciliations, fixed assets, spend controls, vendors, and the transition from outsourced accounting to an in-house team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on industry controllership.
• Deep US GAAP knowledge and direct experience converting cash or mixed-basis accounting to full accrual.
• Experience owning external audit relationships and managing PBC lists, walkthroughs, testing, and auditor communication.
• Marketplace, fintech, or lending experience, including principal-versus-agent revenue and reserve or receivable accounting.
• Fluency with QuickBooks, a modern spend platform, an HRIS, and SQL or BI tools for connecting GL entries to source data.
• Experience managing outsourced, fractional, or offshore accounting teams.

Nice to have

• Asset-backed lending or covenant and borrowing-base reporting experience.
• Experience preparing a company for institutional fundraising or M&A diligence.
