Head of Talent (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States. Flexible work environment; visa sponsorship and relocation support are available.

Salary: $250,000–$300,000+ annual cash compensation plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Own the highest-priority recruiting searches across frontier research, infrastructure engineering, and leadership.
• Source and close passive candidates through networks, cold outreach, and targeted campaigns.
• Build sourcing and closing playbooks for ML researchers, open-source contributors, and elite systems engineers.
• Develop recruiting tooling, data, pipeline visibility, interview rubrics, calibration, and debrief processes.
• Hire and lead a recruiting team while remaining hands-on with critical searches.
• Partner with founders and finance on candidate strategy, leveling, compensation philosophy, and equity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical recruiting experience, including meaningful experience at a frontier AI lab, top AI startup, or elite technical company.
• Direct experience recruiting ML researchers, frontier research talent, or elite distributed systems and infrastructure engineers.
• Proven ability to source and close passive candidates against competing offers from leading AI labs.
• Track record of personally owning senior and difficult searches end-to-end.
• Player-coach mindset with strong judgment on candidate quality, leveling, and hiring standards.
• High ownership, direct communication, and readiness to work closely with founders.

Nice to have

• Experience as a founding recruiter, Head of Recruiting, or senior recruiting lead.
• Existing network in frontier AI research or GPU and ML infrastructure.
• Familiarity with open-source ecosystems and their leading researchers and engineers.
• Experience scaling recruiting operations, tooling, and interview systems.
