Director - Harness Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve the harness components that guide AI coding agents toward production-grade engineering output.
• Create agent instructions, reusable skills, architectural rules, reference documentation, codemods, linters, fitness tests, verification loops, and LLM-based reviewers.
• Own regional AI governance, quality gates, testing infrastructure, security controls, and authority boundaries for agent-generated changes.
• Define observability and performance metrics for agent-assisted development, including merge time, review velocity, defect escape rate, and PR survival.
• Manage, coach, and grow a geographically distributed team of harness engineers while setting goals and quality standards.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to convert specifications and acceptance criteria into enforceable controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Strong hands-on software engineering experience across large, complex codebases, including architecture, testing, and maintainability.
• Practical experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.
• Experience with engineering tooling, static analysis, CI/CD, containerized build and test environments, instrumentation, and observability.
• Knowledge of spec-driven development, context engineering, agent orchestration, fitness functions, developer platforms, and AGENTS.md conventions.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams and establishing AI governance, security guardrails, quality standards, and LLM testing infrastructure.
