Quality Centre of Excellence Leader (AI Testing)

Location: Remote within the UK

Salary: £97,000–£122,000 annual base salary, with additional bonus eligibility potentially available.

What you will do

• Establish and lead the Quality Center of Excellence, managing and mentoring a small team of senior test automation engineers.
• Assess quality maturity across engineering teams using scorecards covering test pyramid health, automation coverage, reliability, and DORA metrics.
• Coach teams on unit, acceptance, contract, integration, API, and right-sized end-to-end testing strategies.
• Build reusable automation patterns, frameworks, and golden-path templates, helping teams reduce brittle end-to-end test suites.
• Evaluate and guide adoption of AI-powered testing tools for test generation, prioritization, self-healing automation, and predictive quality analytics.
• Translate technical quality risks into business impact, prioritize engagements, and align remediation roadmaps with engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in test pyramid design, contract or consumer-driven testing, API and service-level testing, test sustainability, and quality engineering.
• Proven experience coaching engineering teams through influence without formal authority and building testing capability rather than owning execution.
• Hands-on experience with SaaS or multi-tenant products, continuous deployment, progressive delivery, feature flags, staged rollouts, and multiple versions running simultaneously.
• Expertise in test automation, coding in at least one modern language such as C#, Java, TypeScript, or Python, and experience with CI/CD and Git-based source control.
• Experience with AWS or Azure, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, multi-tier infrastructure, and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Ability to present quality maturity dashboards and communicate technical risk to VP-level and senior engineering audiences; a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with REST APIs, databases, SQL, test automation frameworks, financial software, or other complex SaaS products.
• Experience evaluating or implementing AI-powered testing tools or agentic solutions.
