Field Service Technician (Fleet Telematics)

Location: Remote - Georgia, with frequent local and regional travel, periodic national travel, and occasional international travel. Travel is expected at 80% or more, with periodic overnight deployments and weekend or overtime work as needed.

Salary: $33.42–$42.55 per hour, plus eligibility for an incentive compensation plan.

What you will do

• Maintain, stock, rotate, and track trial hardware inventory, sourcing standard replacement parts locally when required.
• Conduct pre-site vehicle assessments and install telematics hardware on standard commercial vehicles using hardwired, diagnostic, and basic AUX Hub configurations.
• Perform basic field diagnostics with a digital multimeter and device tools to verify connectivity, recording, activation, and common electrical issues.
• Inspect each vehicle and confirm recording before release, while documenting installation quality and communicating progress to fleet managers.
• Answer basic product questions on-site and escalate advanced product, deployment, or technical issues to the appropriate account, product, or field engineering contacts.
• Support expanded deployments and coordinate or supervise small installation crews when needed.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of hands-on hardware installation experience; vehicle telematics, vehicle audio/visual, 12V, alarm/security, HVAC, or similar experience is required.
• Mechanical competence with device mounting, cable routing, and power connections in commercial vehicles.
• Basic 12/24V electrical knowledge and the ability to measure voltage, current, and continuity using a digital multimeter.
• Ability to work in fleet yards, trucking facilities, and industrial locations, including outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently locally and regionally, periodically nationally, and occasionally internationally.
• Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed, including periodic overnight travel for out-of-market deployments.

Nice to have

• Installation experience with hirify.global, Samsara, Motive, Geotab, or comparable fleet telematics systems.
• MECP, ASE, or OEM manufacturer certification.
• Experience with Class 7–8 or specialty commercial vehicle configurations.
• Device activation, firmware, or connectivity verification experience.
• Experience coordinating or supervising a small installation crew.
