What you will do

  • Provide strategic leadership and managerial oversight for the polio programme across the Southern Region of Afghanistan.
  • Lead policy dialogue and advocacy with local authorities and represent hirify.global at the Regional Emergency Operations Center.
  • Coordinate programme delivery with WHO counterparts, humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee eradication strategies, innovations, monitoring, evaluation, planning, and implementation quality.
  • Manage programme resources, accountability, results, and alignment with hirify.global and global polio eradication priorities.
  • Support capacity building for frontline workers and strengthen integrated immunization, nutrition, and primary health services.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in medicine, public health, epidemiology, immunization, health policy, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant national and international experience in health or immunization programmes and public health emergencies, including work within UN organizations.
  • Professional experience in a managerial or technical expert role focused on child survival and health care.
  • Strategic leadership, data-driven decision-making, monitoring systems, community engagement, partnership building, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent English is required.
  • Host-country visa, medical clearance, and applicable inoculation requirements must be met for appointment.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Arabic or French.
  • Experience coordinating emergency responses involving disease eradication or elimination in complex humanitarian settings.
  • Experience with large-scale social and behavior change programmes or vaccine supply management.
  • Country-level experience in fragile or humanitarian contexts.
