System Administrator Lead (Linux)

Location: On-site in Huntsville, Alabama, United States; normal business hours with occasional after-hours support required. The role requires an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance and pass a counterintelligence polygraph.

What you will do

• Design, maintain, sustain, and enhance systems and network infrastructure across multiple classification-level environments.
• Lead and manage Information Assurance IT personnel, oversee tasking, and mentor junior System Administrators.
• Maintain compliance with STIGs, DoD information assurance directives, and applicable technical security requirements.
• Support Linux and Windows systems, centralized applications, virtualization platforms, backups, storage, monitoring, and log aggregation.
• Establish hardware and software standards, automate technical solutions, and maintain system documentation.
• Work with management, software development groups, security agencies, customers, and senior technical stakeholders on operational and technical issues.

Requirements

• At least seven years of System Administration experience, including patching, installation, configuration, maintenance, and flaw remediation on classified networks.
• At least three years of Linux administration experience with Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, or similar distributions.
• Experience managing multiple networks in dynamic, demanding, air-gapped classified environments.
• Working knowledge of WAN/LAN infrastructure, including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, Linux-Windows integration, SIEM, vulnerability management, storage, monitoring, compliance tools, virtualization, backup and recovery.
• Active Secret clearance, ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance, ability to pass a counterintelligence polygraph, and DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification are required.

Nice to have

• Experience leading System Administrators in an organization of comparable size and complexity.
• Experience with TACLANE or other Type 1 encryption devices and secure network equipment.
• Knowledge of RMF, DAAPM, JSIG, NIST, and DFARS security controls.
• Scripting or programming experience, including Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, or other Linux orchestration tools.
• RHCSA or another advanced Linux systems administration certification.
