Machinist III (CNC/Advanced Manufacturing)

Location: Lakehurst, New Jersey area; candidates should ideally live within a 40-mile radius of the base. The role requires four days of onsite work per week, Monday through Thursday, with 10-hour workdays. Overtime may be available on Fridays and Saturdays.

Salary: $28.37–$38.40 per hour, equivalent to approximately $4,539–$6,144 per month based on 160 hours.

What you will do

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC machines, CNC and manual mills and lathes, grinders, EDM equipment, and other advanced machine tools.
• Fabricate precision parts and tools from metals, plastics, and other materials while maintaining required dimensions and tolerances.
• Develop toolpaths and digital manufacturing plans using Mastercam, including G-code generation, file traceability, and configuration management.
• Operate additive manufacturing equipment, including WAAM, LPBF, and polymer material extrusion systems, and follow build safety procedures.
• Perform measurements, develop fixtures, troubleshoot equipment and quality issues, and adjust machining processes as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers and R&D personnel to prototype and mature additive, model-based, and other emerging manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least five years of CNC setup and operation experience in a machine shop or vocational training environment.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machines, selecting cutters and fixtures, setting speeds and feeds, and interpreting technical drawings and prints.
• Required experience with Mastercam and a strong understanding of Fanuc control systems.
• Ability to produce close-tolerance parts, use precision measuring tools, calculate dimensions and angles, and select appropriate tools and equipment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely around machinery, noise, chemicals, fumes, heat, and other factory or machine-shop hazards while using required protective equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience operating precision grinding machinery.
• Experience with CNC programming.
• Experience with additive manufacturing, hybrid WAAM, LPBF, polymer extrusion, or model-based definition.
