TL;DR
Pricing Actuary (InsurTech): Leading insurance pricing proof of concepts and translating actuarial requirements into software-driven solutions with an accent on ratemaking, rate deployment, and predictive modeling. Focus on diagnosing complex client needs, shaping product roadmap improvements, and communicating technical analyses to insurers, regulators, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Location: Hybrid in New York, United States, with preference for the New York office; remote work is available for strong applicants based in the Eastern or Central time zones. Travel is required for approximately five working days per month, including client meetings, industry events, and visits to North American and Paris offices.
Salary: $170,000–$220,000 plus annual bonus.

What you will do
- Lead proof-of-concept projects with prospective insurance clients and explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Help clients diagnose issues in ratemaking processes and map business requirements to platform functionality.
- Apply creative approaches to actuarial questions using the platform’s modeling capabilities.
- Provide feedback to Product and R&D teams to shape the product roadmap and define new features.
- Present ratemaking analyses at client meetings, conferences, and webinars, and contribute to white papers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Leadership, and external insurance stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in P&C or general insurance pricing as a Pricing Actuary, Actuarial Consultant, or equivalent.
- Broad insurance industry knowledge, including ISO products and ISO ERC.
- Hands-on experience with actuarial ratemaking, rate deployment, rate indications, measurement methods, state-specific adjustments, and rating variables.
- Experience with the rate filing and approval lifecycle, including responding to state Department of Insurance objections.
- Ability to understand insurance business needs, analyze client ratemaking processes, and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Basic understanding of data science and machine learning for predictive modeling; coding is not required. Native or near-native English fluency is required.

- Commercial and specialty lines experience.
- Familiarity with Python or R.
- ACAS, FCAS, or equivalent actuarial fellowship credentials.
