Director, R&D Software Engineering – Legacy Platform Modernization

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for the delivery, maintenance, reliability, performance, and scalability of established software platforms.
• Drive legacy-system modernization through architectural improvements, refactoring, code-quality initiatives, and updated development practices.
• Establish engineering standards, governance, testing strategies, and quality practices across teams.
• Provide hands-on architectural guidance and technical oversight while mentoring engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Partner with Product, Quality, and other stakeholders on platform lifecycle decisions, prioritization, resource planning, and delivery improvements.
• Oversee R&D integration of acquisitions and ensure platform changes preserve regulatory compliance and validated-system integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership.
• Proven experience leading teams that support established or legacy software platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy systems while maintaining operational stability and compliance.
• Ability to work remotely or in a hybrid environment from the United States or Canada.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across Product, Quality, and Engineering.
